One iPhone, two phone numbers. This idea Line2, new telephony app that effectively adds a second line to your phone.
Despite the curious claim from Apple, that IPHONES not for business, LINE2 should act as a really good news for business users. It provides a new local number, port existing number, or number 800.
Whichever option you choose, the number is approaching with voicemail, call history, as well as independent directory of contacts. (Line2 App provides one-tap switching between the iPhone and books Toktumi phone, a nice touch.)
Using Line2 requires subscription to "Toktumi Virtual Office phone service, which costs $ 14.95 per month if you sign up for a one-year contract or $ 19.95 if you go from month to month. Fortunately, there is a 30-day trial version available.
Moreover, the first 200 readers of iPhone Atlas, the signatories on the account and use the demo code 591321851 will receive three months free!
All subscribers will, however, will have to pay 99 cents for Line2 approx. Although it is difficult to argue with such a pittance that we can not help feeling that if you pay for monthly service, the application must be free.
Once you have installed the application and signed up for military service (which, impressively, you can do right on your iPhone), calls to your number new/ported/800 Come Through as normal calls.
Well, sort of. Your iPhone rings and you see your Toktumi number as Caller ID. When you answer, the automated bot Toktumi tells you who's calling and gives you the possibility of making a call or send it directly to voicemail.
This is a great feature, although it requires to activate the iPhone keyboard to make their choice, which is a minor hassle.
As for outgoing calls, Line2 offers unlimited calling to the U.S. and Canada, and low cost international calls - all routed through the regular cellular broadcast, but not Wi-Fi. Toktumi wants to make it clear that Line2 is not intended as a "low-cost calls solutions" but rather an option for business professionals who require a separate room, which is integrated with their phone.
Of course, you can supposedly get the same thing from Google Voice, if and when it comes to the App Store. (TechCrunch more about the similarities Line2 at Google Voice, if you're interested.)
At the same time, LINE2 definitely works as advertised. If you like the idea of a second phone number for your iPhone, it is worth a look.
