Study: Smartphones to kill personal navigators

    nina Published in the 18:34:13

Pre Palm is a smartphone that offers a viable GPS navigation solutions.

If you need a device GPS, to get around, it becomes more likely that you will get a mobile phone with built-in satellite mapping, than buy a standalone personal navigation devices.

According to market research firm iSuppli, in 2011, almost all smart phones will sport a built-in functionality of the GPS, but by 2014 there may be no more than the market had gone to high blood pressure.

While this is a great statement, it is quite credible. Only a year or two ago, it was difficult to find a phone with a built-in GPS functionality, which actually works reliably. Now look at my iPhone 3GS. I have all three main areas of application of GPS in it, including TomTom, Navigon, and also laid the function, and everyone can turn your phone into a reliable navigator. In addition, I am now testing the fourth, CoPilot Live from ALK Technologies.

Although I may be unusual - mostly because no one needs more than one GPS-application on your phone - in fact, more and more phones offer the same functions and more people are using their phones as the primary GPS navigator while driving .

Palm Pres, for example, also offers a great GPS navigator, provided TelNav, and my colleagues believe Joseph Kaminiski made use of it. Before Joseph's prior use Treo 800 for the same purpose.

Nevertheless, at present market hypertension is still going strong. According to iSuppli, high blood pressure will continue to navigate the market in 2009, about 114 million sets in use are forecasted by the end of the year, compared with 57.8 million navigation smart phones.

New models of smart phones becoming more suitable for use as navigators because of their large display, large internal memory, faster processors, and, most importantly, increase the number of developers creating applications for them. In fact, all the existing navigation solutions for smartphones applications developed by third parties.

iSuppli predicts that due to such factors, the number of people who use the iPhone alone as navigator, will increase from 2 million in 2009 alone to 20 million by 2013.

Personally, however, I still think it will be on the left the market of personal navigation devices. Although I have been able to make use of your phone to get me places, I remain as a stand-alone GPS device for my car, as sometimes while driving my iPhone be used as what it is intended for: the phone.
